Today is International Women’s Day. While it is sad that such a day should exist in this modern era, there is no question that it is needed. This is especially true in the electronic music industry, which is heavily male-dominated.
Shortly after we launched our label we learned about the 23 * 23 initiative, co-launched by fellow Canadian, Sydney Blu. The goal of this initiative is to increase the % of female producers that get signed by record labels to 23% by 2023.
We fully believe in this here at Deep Down. And on this International Women’s Day we salute all the female producers that are putting their sounds out in the world for us all to hear!
We are pleased to announce that Holland’s Miss Dominquez is joining the Deep Down family and will be releasing a beautiful track that she co-wrote in April. More on that soon.
In the meantime, we are on the look out for more great non dude producers.
Defining the Deep Down Sound
If this is your thing, then we are your thing:
Deep house that is more about luscious, yet slightly after hours sounds. Heavy on percussion and basslines. Light on vocals (to be clear we love vocals. Done right, they absolutely make a track)
Deep, progressive & melodic house that you would expect masters like Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Miss Monique & Miss Melera to throw down early in their sets. Lots of pads, tight percussion and basslines that blow your mind.
If your sound fits what we are looking for, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us (info at deepdown dot com).
