It’s not every day that I promote a vocal track, but Canada’s juSt b is not your average voice. She recently teamed up with NorB to produce a dark and brooding three track EP for none other than John Digweed‘s Bedrock records.
The title track, and our pick of the week, is Different Places. The vocal mix is our fav. Most tracks have long mix-ins. This one gets straight to the point: there is a short spot to mix in then the beat fades away. Tension build slowly and steadily. The track features vicious stabs and haunting synths.
The most unique aspect of this track in this era of too much disposable music is the lyrics. In juSt b’s own words:
All the lyrics hold deep personal meaning for both our own unique journeys but also anyone who has struggled w/ darkness in their lives & somehow found a way to let go of the burdens…to push through to the other side – to a more hopeful existence.
