With Russia in the news for all the wrong reasons these days, we find ourselves going to Russia for our track of the week.
Konstantin Kuranakov a. k. a. Jiminy Hop, serves up a trio of goodies for his debut with Australia’s Meanwhile Recordings (beloved and respected imprint of GMJ & Matter).
All three tracks are awesome. Of them, “Johlin” is currently sitting at #2 on the Beatport progressive charts, but we like Colatrix the most. Here’s what Meanwhile have to say about it:
“Colatrix” impress with its deep kick and off-beat house rhythm. Gently pulsating through a swathe of side-chained pads, a trademark bassline sequence emerges through the textured melange while arpeggiated synth lines filter into sonic range. Another beautifully sculpted breakdown sequence showcases Jiminy Hop’s skills in abundance as coruscating sounds blend effortlessly against a dynamic percussive backdrop.
First, full marks for using the word coruscating!
For us, this track stands out for its diverse elements from a deep, subby bass, to nice vocals, arpeggiated synths and moving melodies. It’s a winner!
